National Convention on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Legacy: Advancing Rights, Justice & Constitutional Governance
O.P. Jindal Global University hosted a three-day convention to celebrate Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University from April 12-14, 2025, facilitated by CJLS.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar stands as one of India’s most formidable scholars and revolutionary leaders of the 20th century. A visionary advocate for rights and a just society, particularly of and for marginalized communities, his ideas and practice made some of the most important and foundational structures of India possible, including the Indian Constitution.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar continues to inspire movements for justice and emancipation worldwide. To appreciate his enduring legacy, we wanted to facilitate, support and host some conversations - enlivening his life with our learnings and his remarkable scholarship with what concerns us today.
Through keynote lectures, panel discussions, reflective dialogues, and evocative performances, we traced the indelible imprint of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar—his visionary role in shaping the Indian Constitution, his relentless pursuit of caste annihilation, and his profound legacy in political thought and social justice. This gathering was an intellectual exercise and an invitation—for judges, lawyers, scholars, activists, artists, writers, poets, students, and policymakers to not only revisit Ambedkar’s ideas but to wrestle with them, to let them unsettle and illuminate.

Pre-convention Event
The event featured the Book Launch and Discussion of Prof. Valerian Rodrigues’ new book, Ambedkar’s Political Philosophy: A Grammar of Public Life from the Social Margin, which was followed by the screening of “Jai Bhim” (directed by T.J. Gnanavel, 2021), a powerful cinematic portrayal of justice, caste, and resistance.
